Rachel Tinguely
Rachel Tinguely was born in Brazil, and grew up in Switzerland. Her background is gymnastics, classical ballet, tap and theater dance. In 1999 she received her B.A. in sports and physical education from the University in Bern Switzerland and continued her studies in contemporary dance at Colombo Dance School in Zurich with renowned choreographers Marisa Godoy, Frank Rutishauser, Guido Tuveri and Peter McCoy. Rachel performed nationally with a street dance group and accomplished third place at the Swiss championship in 2001. She participated in Morat/Switzerland to the musical comedy “Fantasma” at the occasion of the Swiss event "EXPO 2002".
She moved to New York in October 2002, where she studied at Steps, Broadway Dance Center, Dance Space, Peridance and Alvin Ailey. Rachel has performed with choreographers including Nina Buisson, Sebastien Sabatier-Curial and David Kieffer. Since 2004 she has been a member of Nina Buissons Contemporary Move and has performed at the Annual International Dance Festival at the Duke on 42nd Street. In 2005 she joined RASA Dance Company and has performed with Sabine Heubusch in different venues and site-specific outdoor spaces in New York. Rachel is a certified teacher of GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® a. In 2008 she moved to Zürich to complete her M.A. in Dance.
